Job Description:

We are immediately hiring for a SAMPLES SPECIALIST / TECHNICAL ASSISTANT.   As Samples Specialist / Technical Assistant, you will be responsible for the creation of finished cured samples of ARDEX products (such as polished concrete samples), that are used by Sales Professionals, Distributors and Architects to help in the selling and promotional process. You will also assist the Technical Team in the setup of customer product demonstrations, together with assisting the R&D and Technical teams in sample testing.

This is a full-time position (Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.), paying $19.00 per hour, located at our Ardex Academy and Production Facilities, 20 minutes North of Pittsburgh International Airport.

Key responsibilities 

 

 

  • Create finished samples. Work includes water dosing, cement powder measuring/mixing, pouring, mold extraction and cutting of samples.
  • Help develop and maintain standard operating procedures and ongoing process improvements.
  • Ensure adequate stock is maintained for each sample.
  • Maintain a list of materials to ensure adequate products are available when needed.
  • Provide special order samples to Technical and R&D for testing when appropriate.
  • Support new and/or specialty products as needed.
  • Ensure work area is clean and maintain tools, equipment, and pails.
  • Cross train on decorative color processes and polished hand samples.
  • Support the overall Technical Department in the areas of training, testing and demonstrations.
  • Provide assistance to Technical Managers and Service Consultants across all product categories.
  • Follow all safety standards established by Technical Department and Operations (plant) team.
  • Work closely with the Literature Department and assist when needed
  • General knowledge of the finish flooring and concrete flooring industry.

Experience and Skills:

  • Some flooring installation, concrete finishing and/or carpentry experience preferred
  • Familiar with the use of construction/finishing equipment to include drills (for mixing), steel trowels, grout floats, mixing buckets/pails, circular saws, table saws, hand grinders, dust collection, floor sanders, etc.
  • Ability to work with various power tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrates good mechanical or hands-on skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be detail-oriented and meticulous.
  • Self-starter and ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment and in various temperatures.
  • Must be customer focused.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to follow directions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Forklift and hand truck experience a plus

Education

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED
